Merum Priorati
Merum Priorati Vineyards are located around the tiny village of Porrera, one of seven ancient pueblos an hour and a half south of Barcelona, and the center of Priorato. The estate owns 13 vineyards of which three are ancient vineyards all planted over to American rootstock between 80-100 years ago and three that are over 60 years old. As was the custom at the time, these Cariñena and Garnacha vineyards are oriented to the southeast, thus avoiding the burning heat of the late afternoon sun and assuring a long slow maturation from the middle of September to the end of October.
