The Gil family has teamed up with Jorge Ordonez and New Zealand winemaker Amy Hopkinson to create this new winery in the Castille y Leon. Apart from producing Tinta de Toro, they are also working with an extremely obscure but possibly the next up and coming red varietal that is native to the Leon: Prieto Picudo. In the past this grape has been primarily used for blending but currently there is more effort being put into developing high quality wines made only from Prieto Picudo. The Bodegas Triton Prieto Picudo is a fantastic example of what this grape can do on its own, producing a delicate balance of floral, fruity, and spicy aromas and flavors. 2008- A very cool year, very late harvest 3rd week of October, and very fine long elegant tannins
