G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe

  • VARIETY: 100% Nebbiolo.

  • VINEYARD AND TERROIR: Albe is a blend of wonderful Barolo vineyards ranging in aspect from south-southeast to southwest.

  • HARVEST AND WINEMAKING: The high-elevation vineyards for Barolo Albe are usually picked in the second half of Nebbiolo harvest. Vinification is carried out in custom-designed vertical tanks, with gentle punch down and rinsing of the cap. Maceration lasts 25 days on average. Malolactic fermentation occurs in stainless steel the following spring.

  • AGING: Albe rests on average between 30 and 36 months in Slavonian oak casks of large capacity: 40, 50 and 75hL. The wine is usually racked once a year. Blending is decided in the spring prior to bottling.
